Cost of Vasectomy

Cost of Vasectomy

Major barriers to having vasectomy are the number of office visits required, the time it takes to get your appointments,  and the combined cost of vasectomy and your appointments.

Most vasectomy doctors will require you to have a consultation visit. Often you will not get your first appointment for several months from the time you called. You will not know the cost of vasectomy until after your consultation.

We specialize in offering timely and affordable, single visit vasectomy procedures.

The total cost for a single visit vasectomy procedure is $1,250.

This means you travel to our office one time, have your vasectomy, and then you are done! Most patients choose to have a single visit procedure.

The cost is all-inclusive and covers the vasectomy procedure and the three (3) month post-vasectomy semen analysis when the analysis is performed by our office.

We do not accept health insurance as payment but your health insurance may cover part or all of your vasectomy. Our office will provide you with a receipt and procedure documentation. You will have to request reimbursement directly from your health insurance company after the vasectomy has been completed.

See links below for more information about obtaining vasectomy reimbursement from your health insurance company.

We recommend you have a consultation if you have a history of an undescended testicle, are taking a prescription blood thinner, have a genetic bleeding disorder (bleed easily), or are uncertain about having a vasectomy.

We do not require a routine vasectomy follow-up visit because this visit is unnecessary for most patients.

All His Choice patients receive the doctor’s personal cell phone number to call if they think they are experiencing a vasectomy related problem.

Semen sample testing after vasectomy

We will perform one (1) follow-up semen sample test at no charge for all patients within the first six (6) months of the vasectomy procedure. The semen sample test is included in the cost above.

Patients who take their semen sample to an outside laboratory for the vasectomy confirmation test will be charged by the outside laboratory. Your health insurance may or may not pay for this testing. The cost for an after vasectomy semen sample at an outside lab ranges from $50 to $150.

The cost for the optional consultation appointment is $250.

This cost is not applied towards the single visit vasectomy procedure cost. Most patients will schedule a single visit vasectomy without having a consultation appointment.

We recommend a consultation appointment if:

  • Have an undescended testicle (repaired or not repaired)
  • Are on prescription blood thinner*
  • Have a genetic bleeding disorder (bleed easily)
  • You want to talk about vasectomy before having a vasectomy

*If you are on a blood thinner you may be able to get clearance from your doctor and avoid having a consultation appointment. You will need to send that clearance to us at the time you schedule your appointment.

How to schedule a consultation appointment?

Our website only allows you to schedule single visit vasectomy procedures.

To schedule a consultation visit contact our office to speak to a staff person.

We will email you more information about the consultation and provide you with a special appointment link to schedule a consultation appointment.

If you would like a vasectomy under deep IV sedation then the total cost will be $3,150.

More information: Sedation Vasectomy Explained

You will need to pay the entire cost when you schedule your procedure.

The costs covers the single visit deep sedation vasectomy procedure, surgery facility fee, nursing time, anesthesia staff time and anesthesia medications, and the three (3) month post-vasectomy semen analysis when performed by our office.

If you would like a consultation prior to your deep sedation vasectomy procedure, then there will be an additional cost for the consultation.

Please be aware of the following regarding sedation vasectomy:

  • Single visit sedation appointments are available.
  • The consultation visit is optional.
  • If you have a history of undescended testicle, take a prescription blood thinner usage, or        have a bleeding disorder then a consultation appointment is recommended.
  • The sedation scheduling fee is not refundable.
  • The entire sedation vasectomy fee must be paid within 24 hours of scheduling.
  • A driver is required on the day of your procedure.

We arrange our surgery schedule to accommodate your procedure. If you attempt to reschedule or cancel sedation vasectomy within seven (7) days of your scheduled date you will be charged a $500 rescheduling/cancellation fee.

Sedation vasectomy is not required for men to have a vasectomy, but neither is flying first class nor sitting in a luxury box at a sporting event!

Some men prefer sedation vasectomy for an additional guarantee of comfort and amnesia during their vasectomy procedure.

Most health insurance plans will cover vasectomy. If you would like find out if your health insurance will cover your vasectomy then you will need to contact them and determine if vasectomy is covered and how much they will reimburse you directly.
